Our Farm to School Coordinator is working with Dexter Food and Nutrition Services and local farmers to sample foods grown on local farms in Dexter cafeterias during lunch. These tastings will be once per month and will feature a fresh, seasonal food that students can try in a safe, fun environment. See the flyer here: FarmFreshFoodDay_Flyer_September
The goal of these fund events is twofold:
- Pilot a local foods purchasing arrangement between Dexter Food and Nutrition and local farmers; and
- Introduce students to new, fresh foods they may not have tried before that may be on the lunch line in the near future.

Keep an eye out for KALE during next month’s Farm Fresh Food Day! We’re thinking kale smoothies, kale chips, or maybe a slaw with fruit. Have a recipe idea or a farmer who can contribute? Contact us at DexterFarmtoSchool@gmail.com!
We need VOLUNTEERS to help us prep and sample the foods this month! Please email us at DexterFarmtoSchool.org if you can help! Here’s the volunteers we’re looking for:
